About Rebecca

Rebecca Clanton began baking as a small child under the encouraging and watchful eye of her grandmother. Using an old cookbook her Mother bought from a traveling salesman in the early 1950′s, Rebecca developed a love of baking and a realization that the quality of ingredients as well as attention to detail is what always made the difference in how much her family and friends loved her cooking. Although now a tattered book and part of a major collection of cookbooks Rebecca treasures, it was her Mother’s old cookbook that first introduced her to cooking and the beginning of her love of baking.

In March of 1998, Rebecca, then a single mother to teenagers Lacey and Travis received a call from her sister asking if she could take care of an infant whose mother was unable to care for her. Although this beautiful child became part of Rebecca’s family immediately, her adoption would only become a reality at the conclusion of a difficult and expensive five year battle with Florida’s antiquated adoption laws written to make it very difficult for single mothers to adopt. To cover the cost of Rebecca’s unwavering commitment to adopt Savannah Grace and keep her three children together, Rebecca turned to what she knew best and started making her grandmothers peanut brittle.  With no money or help to care for her new baby Rebecca, with Savannah in tow, began selling her brittle in small paper bags purchased from a discount shop to all of the Farmer’s Markets and Festivals throughout NE Georgia. This desperate attempt to pay the legal bills necessary to adopt Savannah blossomed into a full time bakery/café, Sweet Magnolias which still operates today in Gainesville, Georgia. It was Rebecca’s commitment to her children that led her to the food business and her success is what brings her here to The Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show.

Rebecca’s passion for baking led her to audition on The Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. In October of 2012, Rebecca and her baking partner were crowned Cupcake Wars Champions with a Mary Poppins Themed Event. Rebecca used her artistic and creative talent to create cupcakes and decorations worthy enough for her to be named “best baker we have had on our show”, “a true artist.” Florian Belanger and Candace Nelson.

Although the road has been long and difficult at times, it just goes to show that with determination, perseverance and passion you can achieve anything your heart desires. Now, with a Food Network win under her belt, Rebecca opened her first Cupcake Shop in Spring, Texas along with her daughters Lacey and Savannah. Within just a few months, people began to approach Rebecca asking about franchise opportunities!  Realizing the demand for her cupcakes was much greater than her resources could accommodate, Rebecca launched The Cupcake Cowgirls Franchise utilizing a unique but old fashioned approach to baking to help meet the growing demand. Rebecca takes the classic recipes of her mother and grandmother mixed with years of hands on experience and attention to detail to deliver small batch quality using using only the best ingredients.

The Cupcake Cowgirls growth strategy, already underway, includes further expansion of her franchise footprint to the major metropolitan cities of Texas before launching her strategic plan to become a nationally recognized brand. Rebecca is now seeking strong potential candidates for Franchises and Area Development. The objective is to establish Cupcakes Bakeries in strategically chosen communities throughout Texas and beyond. The Cupcake Cowgirls brand stands for nostalgia, quality and celebration!
